What to Expect During Your Visit

If you have never experienced acupuncture or Chinese medicine before, your first visit is completely relaxed, unhurried, and comfortable.

Your First Session: Step-by-Step

Initial sessions are typically 75–90 minutes to ensure thorough diagnostic attention:

01

Comprehensive Health Intake & Conversation

We begin with a seated conversation where you share your primary concerns, medical history, pain patterns, sleep habits, diet, stress, and lifestyle. You will never feel rushed; we take the time to understand the complete picture of your health.

02

Traditional Chinese Medicine Examination

The practitioner assesses your radial pulses across three positions and depths on both wrists to evaluate organ network dynamics. We also observe your tongue’s color, shape, and coating, and perform gentle palpation along meridian channels or tender trigger points (Ashi points).

03

Individualized Treatment Formulation

Based on diagnostic findings, we tailor a precise combination of acupuncture points. Depending on your condition, we may integrate soothing far-infrared TDP heat, gentle electroacupuncture, Tui Na massage, or custom Chinese herbal recommendations.

04

Acupuncture Treatment & Deep Rest

You relax on a comfortable, heated treatment table. Ultra-fine sterile needles are gently tapped into place. Once placed, you rest quietly in a peaceful room with ambient sound therapy for 25–35 minutes. Most patients enter a deeply serene meditative or restorative sleep state ("acu-nap").

05

Aftercare & Home Recommendations

Needles are gently removed. We discuss what to expect over the next 24–48 hours, recommend staying hydrated, and outline a realistic frequency plan to achieve long-term resolution.

How to Prepare for Your Appointment:

1. Wear Comfortable Clothing

Loose-fitting pants and tops that can easily roll above the knees and elbows allow easy access to common acupuncture points.

2. Eat a Light Meal or Snack

Please do not arrive on an empty stomach. A light snack 1–2 hours beforehand ensures balanced blood sugar during treatment.

3. Avoid Heavy Caffeine & Tongue Scraping

Avoid excessive coffee right before your visit, and please avoid scraping your tongue on the day of your appointment so we can observe natural coating.

4. Bring Insurance Card & ID

Bring your insurance card, photo ID, and any list of current medications or supplements you take regularly.
